Darkroom Playground

I first delve into darkroom photography at the start of high school. That tiny room became my haven as I spent entire days lost in a whirlwind of experiments—playing with developing techniques, testing double exposures, wrestling with chemicals, and diving into enlarging experiments.

My exploration was fuelled by countless failures that eventually led to small victories and I managed to master new techniques.

Soon the charm of 2D texture and monochrome images started to wear thin and I started to look for a new area to explore. I decided to break free from the confines of the darkroom and experiment layering the prints with different mediums, coating them with thin golden leaves, splashing them with vibrant paint or threading them with stitches.

This small journey made me realise how wide the medium of photography can be and how the print of an image is only the beginning and not the final product.

This is the moment I decided to make photography my study for the next 5 years.
