Humans of Myanmar

Jeux de regard, je te regarde.

Myanmar was the place where the tender roots of my childhood firmly took hold for the first six years of my life.

Though life’s current swept me away, a part of me remains anchored in the Burmese embrace.

The resilience of the people of Myanmar is a tale etched with the ink of struggle. They have been faced with relentless restrictions on their freedom (the 88 uprising, the Saffron revolution, the many coup d’états) but their spirits stands unbroken.

It seems as if they wear their smiles as shields against the storms they have faced and know they will face again. Though they try to conceal their timid laughs behind a hand, their laughing eyes seem to hide a small defiance against the perpetual shadow of adversity.
