Being a swimmer for five years, I heard many comments on my physical appearance: "You have very manly shoulders", "These muscles are hidding all your feminine traits"
"You don't have a girl's body, you look like King Kong"

I was 15 and I was told what a girl should and should not look like. What was pretty and what wasn't. I stopped swimming and lost those beautiful muscles that defined my back and shoulders.
It was only some years later that I realized how the remarks I use to laugh to had affected me. So two years ago I started this project where I photographed women around me.

Through this series, I hope to show you the beauty that I now see in these muscles. But most importantly, I hope to show you a different side, out of many, of what society has told you a women should look like.
